5 Free Beauty Tips: Make-Up Brushes And Pencils

Make-Up brushes and pencils need special care as they come in direct contact with that most sensitive part of your body – your skin. Use these 5 free beauty tips to keep a high standard.

1. Clean makeup brushes with a mild liquid soap. Cup your hand, put in a little soapy water and swish the brushes in the palm of your hand until they are clean. Rinse, reshape, and hang over the edge of a table so the air can dry them naturally. To avoid damaging them, do not soak them in a sink or wrap them in a towel to dry.

2. When purchasing an eyebrow brush, be sure it has firm bristles. A soft brush will only slide over the surface. A firm brush will groom and control the short eyebrow hairs.

3. Use a concealer brush to apply concealer to the innermost corner of the eye. This small, firm brush with a tip can reach this difficult spot which often appears dark as it is so recessed. In the absence of a concealer brush, use a finger to apply the concealer.

4. If you wish to invest in quality makeup brushes, purchase natural bristle rather than synthetic bristles. Sable is a strong favorite. Make sure the bristles are packed tight and not loose. Brush the back of the hand to make sure it doesn't lose too many bristles.

5. When using an eyebrow pencil, use short, diagonal strokes in the direction of the hair growth. Give more attention to areas where there are less hairs rather than an even coverage. Note: Avoid the temptation to use an eyeliner pencil on the eyebrows. They are soft and malleable, ideal for the delicate eye area. An eyebrow pencil needs to be fairly hard to allow you to create tiny strokes in specific areas.

7 Free Beauty Tips: Face And Body

7 free beauty tips and guidelines that can make your face and body care so much easier:

1. To clean facial skin without doing damage, do not scrub. Rather, use a gentle, oil and fragrance free cleanser, preferably one that is pH balanced. For oily skin use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid. Unless your skin is oily, avoid toner as this can dry out the skin.

2. Invest in a magnifying mirror to closely scrutinize your facial skin. It will then be easy to identify enlarged pores on the central parts of the cheeks as well as blackheads in the area of the nose.

3. Emergency treatment for puffy eyes: If you need to eliminate puffy eyes in a hurry, chill two teaspoons in the fridge, then place the hollow sides over closed eyes for a few minutes.

Alternatively, take two chamomile tea bags that have cooled after being steeped in boiling water, and place them over the eyes for a few minutes.

4. Neck Area: While much time and attention is lavished on the face, the neck area needs as much care and consideration. Include the neck area in your skincare routine.

5. To get the day off to a healthy start, make a drink from boiling water and the juice of one lemon. Add some finely chopped ginger for further interest. Apart from being a good source of Vitamin C, this will cleanse the liver and get your metabolism going.

6. Home Made Salt Rub: Feel renewed by making your own salt rub with a mixture of coarse salt and gentle liquid soap. Using a loofah mitt, apply the mixture all over the body in the shower and rinse the suds thoroughly. Pat the body dry and then apply a body cream or oil to leave your body soft and smooth. (Do not use products containing alpha hydroxy acids to avoid irritating the skin)

7. Make foot care a part of your shower routine. Keep a pumice stone in the shower and smooth away any calluses which may start forming, dry skin on the heels or balls of the feet, or rough skin on the edge of the toes. Gentle, regular care will keep unsightly foot problems at bay.

Beauty Secrets Of A Traveling Woman: 10 Simple Tips

Let’s face it, life on the go is challenging. Though, we still want to look our best on the road. When traveling for business you’re busy with client meetings, conferences and marathon days. The last thing you need to worry about is how your makeup looks. Remember to keep it simple and less is more when it comes to beauty on the go.

Today simplicity is vital, especially with the TSA restrictions on liquids in carry-on luggage. It is essential that you stay informed and up to date with the latest travel news. Being informed can make the difference between having toothpaste in you bag or having to rely on breath mints to freshen up instead.

Even seasoned travelers fall prey to the liquid free zone. Recently, at the Miami airport, I dumped a few personal items into the gray plastic bin at the security checkpoint. Much to my surprise, I had a tube of lip gloss in my possession. No, I did not have a temper tantrum; instead I politely nodded when the TSA worker whisked away my tube of lip gloss to the land of homeless beauty items.

I did breathe a little easier knowing that the lip gloss was a drugstore purchase and not one of the ridiculously expensive brands. My purse strings were not tremendously affected, though my pride was hurt. I knew better.

Before your next trip take a look at these 10 Simple Tips to staying beautiful on the go.

1. Keep it Simple. Leave all of the full size bottles and containers at home. Try searching the internet for trial and travel size toiletries. Use products that travel well and are space savers. Towelettes are ideal options for traveling light. Towelettes come in several forms; deodorant, lotion, perfume, polish remover, sunscreen and insect repellent.

2. Less is More. Pack only the essentials. A wonderful addition to your cosmetic arsenal is the all purpose or 3-in- 1 crayon/pencil. You can find terrific options for an eye/cheek/lip pencil from several makeup manufacturers. This multi purpose item saves lots of space and gives you a pulled together look that is low maintenance.

3. One Color Scheme. Keep the makeup palette in the same family. This cuts down on the amount of cosmetic items you need and it will give you a more professional look. Try a great bronzer to give you a little color and a great glow.

4. Let Your Eyes Have Cake. If you’re like me, I can go without the lipstick, blush and eye shadow. Though, the one thing I must have is mascara. Limited amounts of liquid mascara are allowed in your carry-on luggage. If traveling through the security checkpoint gives you the creeps, try packing some cake mascara. Cake mascara was popular years ago and it is now being used more often because it is travel friendly.

5. Moist Lips are Hip. Keep the lip gloss in the checked luggage. Lipstick in limited quantities is allowed in your carry on luggage. Make sure it is a moisturizing lipstick. Some of the long lasting formulas are extremely drying to the lips.

6. Neat Nails Reign. Always travel with an emery board. Sharp, pointed and metallic files are best left at home. Keep polish plain and in neutral tones. If the polish is neutral it does not show chips as easily. Ladies, there are even dry polish strips available that travel well and no need to worry about the messy bottle. Nice hands speak volumes to your clients.

7. Lighten Your Hair Load. Find a hair style that requires little maintenance. Experiment with different lengths to find out what works best for you. Travel with fewer hair appliances to make your load lighter, (e.g., hair dryer, flat/curling iron). Most hotels are upgrading their blow dryers and many have even removed them from the wall. Thank goodness for the small things.

8. Protect Your Skin. A great moisturizer is your best friend. Airplanes are very dehydrating. Even if you have oily skin you may benefit from a daily cleansing and moisturizing routine. Most moisturizers today are available with a sunscreen. This is further protection from the damaging affects of the sun.

9. Water Keeps You Hydrated. The single most important thing you could do for yourself is to stay hydrated. Whether you are traveling by car, train or airplane, the body needs water. The human body is mostly water. Your skin, hair and nails respond positively to hydration. Drink water before and during you trip. Remember, alcoholic beverages dehydrate you even further.

10. Have a Great Attitude. We all know people who are attractive and we know people who we think are beautiful. Most of the beautiful people have an inner beauty that separates them from the rest. Keep a good attitude. Life is short so make it beautiful.

Add Shower Curtains to Your Bath Decor for Lasting Beauty

Shower curtains are probably the most visible part of your bathroom decor. They can be seen from every corner of the room and are also usually the largest hanging item. They line your tub, protect your floor from splashed water, and give you a sense of privacy while bathing. So it makes sense to choose your shower curtains wisely. Use the guide below to find just the right shower curtains for your bathroom.

Choose by Style, Colors, and Patterns

Shower curtains can match your decor in several ways. Your bathroom may follow a certain theme such as dolphins, fish, birds, flowers, and even more dramatic effects such as giraffes or tigers! The shower curtains can match your bathroom's theme. For added beauty, choose a shower curtain liner that's a solid color. This will bring out the themed curtain even more.

If your bathroom is decorated in colors rather than a certain theme, choose shower curtains that match or complement those colors. Some color combinations to consider are light (or mint green) and white, burgundy and beige variations or cinnamon colors, red and white or red and black, blue with light mauve, yellow with pastels, or dark green with a mix of floral patterns including burgundy, green, blue, and yellow flowers.

If you have a window curtain in your bathroom, you can also match your shower curtain to your window curtain. This causes all other colors and patterns to fall into place.

Consider Practicality

If decorating a children's bathroom, consider a simple vinyl or plastic curtain that offers a fun and playful theme. For a formal bathroom, choose cotton, silk, or linen with a PVC vinyl or fabric liner. Choose a shower curtain that's durable and can easily be cleaned. Check for good stitching and grommets (reinforcements for the ring holes) that are rustproof.

To simplify things, you can now choose shower curtain liners that are very easy to remove for cleaning. There are zip-off shower curtain liners that zip on and off just below the rings for cleaning and can be washed in the washing machine. These easy-to-remove shower curtain liners save you time if you're always in a hurry when cleaning.

Shower Curtain Rods and Rings

Be sure to choose shower curtain rods and rings that enhance your decor, especially in a formal bathroom. Detailed shower curtain rings will stand out to your guests and add beauty to your curtains and tub. The rod should be made of materials that will not rust or peel. Both the rod and rings should be strong enough to hold your shower curtains.

To increase the "space" in your bathtub, use curved rods that come out and around from the tub. These are lovely and give you plenty of elbowroom!

Once you decide on colors and styles for your bathroom, you're ready to shop for shower curtains. You can compare styles and even buy shower curtains online from your own personal computer. There are many colors and styles as well as easy-to-remove shower curtain liners that make decorating and cleaning a breeze. Give your bath decor the look and feel you want today!

Beauty Diary - Get the Connection?

Our skin is affected not only by the foods which we eat, but also by the things which it absorbs. This means that whatever you put onto your skin could potentially have a direct effect on its health and appearance. When looking at the cosmetic and skin care products which you use, it may surprise you to know that most of them could be potentially causing your skin problems instead of helping them.

Identifying the Cause of the Problem If you are struggling to find the cause of your skin problem then try writing down everything that you use on your body and hair during your daily routine. Note when you started using each product. Is it an old favorite you have used for the last 15 years, or is it a brand new product you just picked up? Have there been any other changes to your beauty routine? If there have been then it is more than likely that the change in products has led to the problems with your skin. Writing a beauty diary will help you narrow down the potential offenders.

A figure which may surprise you is that most women tend to use around 12 personal care products a day. This could be anything from soap to shower gel, deodorant, make-up and even moisturizers, cleanser and toner. Each one of these products has on average 15-30 potentially harmful ingredients.

By being your own personal beauty investigator, you can eliminate the product from your beauty routine that could be causing the trouble. If you are having a reaction, allergic or otherwise, it most likely is connected to a new product introduced into your routine. On occasion though, old favorites can start to cause irritation after prolonged use, so don't rule them out. Once you have a date that your skin issue began, first take a hard look at the products you have used after that date.

At this point you should:

1. Look at the remaining products in question and determine if they come in contact with the area of your body with which you have issues. For example, if you have acne on your forehead, remember that not only pertains to your cosmetics but also your hair and shampoo which come in contact with this area and must be considered.

2. Read the ingredient labels of the identified new products. If you notice a trend in the ingredients of all your products you could be allergic to one or many of these repeating ingredients.

3. Remove one or all of the isolated products from your routine. If you must use a similar product make sure that it is made of different ingredients. If you are not using a natural product already try an all-natural alternative. Read the ingredient labels to confirm that it is truly natural. These natural alternatives generally contain less ingredients and are free of many irritating chemicals found in traditional products. If you are already using a natural product that you would like to eliminate make sure you replace it with an entirely different formula.

4. Keep the suspect products out of your beauty routine for at least 3-4 months.

5. Do your homework. A quick google search for 'safe cosmetics' or 'cosmetic database' will give you detailed information about the general safety of thousands of products you may be using. Make sure your products fall within the 'green' range for safety in the online safe cosmetics databases.

6. During this time note any changes to your issue and overall health.

7. By writing down the cosmetics you use and the ingredients in them you will then be able to log on to safe cosmetic databases and determine the safety rating for that particular product.

Cutting Out the Risk of Harming Your Skin There are over 10,500 ingredients used in cosmetics and skin care products. Of those only 11% have ever been tested for safety. The FDA does not require testing of cosmetic and beauty care products. With this huge knowledge gap about the ingredients in our beauty products it is often better to stick to what is known and tested to be safe. If you are interested in eliminating potential unknowns from your routine try natural alternatives to your drug-store or department store brands. There are lots of options available both online and in your local health food store.

Start that beauty diary and learn more about your own beauty habits! You may see a connection between your skin problems and the product you use.

Serious Beauty Blunders: Solved!

Prom is finally here but—yikes!—your mascara is a mess and you over-indulged with the atomizer. This cheat sheet has all kinds of quick fixes.

Beauty Blunder: Instead of spraying on a little perfume, you smell like you dumped the whole bottle on your body.

Quick Fix: Diffuse your too-strong scent by patting over-perfumed areas with rubbing alcohol, then wash with soap and water.

Practice Prevention: Instead of spraying perfume on directly, spritz the air and walk through it.

Beauty Blunder: You used too much styling product. Now your locks look greasy but there’s no time to shampoo.

Quick Fix: Use your hands or a flat brush to comb the product out of your hair.

Practice Prevention: Place styling product in the palm of one hand and rub palms together to emulsify. Apply to the underside of hair and ends first, then put on top.

Beauty Blunder: You apply mascara but instead of long lashes you’ve got major clumps.

Quick Fix: Gently comb lashes with a dry, clean mascara wand; lash comb or new, dry toothbrush while mascara is still wet.

Practice Prevention: Wipe mascara wand on a tissue to get rid of excess before you apply.

Beauty Blunder: You used way too much blush and look a little like Bozo.

Quick Fix: Light excess color by applying a little foundation or concealer on top, but be gentle: pressing or rubbing too hard will smudge and make matters worse.

Practice Prevention: After dipping the brush into your blush, blow bristles to remove any excess.

Beauty Blunder: Your lipstick is caught in the dry flakes of your chapped likes and looks like a mess.

Quick Fix: Apply lip balm or Vaseline® on top of lipstick and gently rub lips together.

Practice Prevention: Slick on lip balm of Vaseline® before lipstick. If lips are chapped, look for a moisturizing lipstick for more consistent color and a smoother pucker!

Wrought Iron Fencing – Beauty And Security In One Package

Fencing provides many aspects of home décor and safety, doubling as a form of security around the property and a decorative addition to a property. While wooden picket fences have become a dominant form of fencing, using iron fencing for both security and decoration is still a popular method. Why might you opt to use wrought iron fencing to surround your property instead of less expensive materials?

First of all, a fence is constructed for several purposes, but the main thought is security. Your fence should be geared for two security needs: keeping unwanted people and creatures out, and maintaining the safety and security by placing a boundary to keep pets within. Of course, fences have also become a show of pride for many homeowners, built in artistic and architecturally pleasing manners for aesthetics as much as for security. Using wrought iron as a fencing material can make your home quite secure while also adding a particular style to your property.

Wrought iron is more expensive than wood because it is sturdier. Wood can easily be splintered, broken, or simply removed, allowing a trespasser to enter your property. It can also be easily damaged by the weather, pulled down in strong winds and storms. However, with a wrought iron fence, you reduce many of these risks. A wrought iron fence cannot be bent or broken without special tools, and maintaining the slats close together insures that no one can pass through them to enter your property. Often, these fences are topped with decorative spikes that are difficult and even painful to climb over, further enhancing security.

At the same time, you’ll find that using the more expensive wrought iron fencing will increase property value because of the sheer nicety of it. The material is preferred by many because it has a sleek design with cleaner lines. Also, the openings between slats allow the world a view of what is probably a carefully and diligently maintained lawn and garden. Often, you’ll find wrought iron fences surrounding homes of great value and even historical homes, making it feel as though you are entering a world of the past and also allowing a full view of the surrounding grounds for passers-by to ogle.

Another nice thing about the ability to see through the wrought iron fence is that you can identify individuals trying to gain entrance to your property without any video cameras or expensive security and surveillance equipment. Always know who is at your gate before you decide to open it.

As far as a fence goes, wrought iron will also provide a sturdier gate, better locking ability, and an overall safer feeling of being within the walls of a secure castle complex. While not impenetrable, wrought iron is much more difficult to penetrate than a wooden fence, leading to greater safety and a reassured feeling that you need not worry when you go to sleep at night. With a wrought iron fence, you can guarantee both beauty and security that will leave you comfortable and content with your choice of materials.

The Beauty Of Red Wine: A Beginner's Guide

The hit comedy film Sideways is about a road trip in the wine country of sunny California where the two main characters, Miles and Jack, taste copious amounts of red wine while dealing with major life dramas. It's a hilarious film that touched so many people with its dark comedy and truly moving portraits of people dealing with love, pain, and wine tasting.

But perhaps the greatest thing about Sideways was how it inspired so many people to go out and become connoisseurs of fine wine! According the Internet Movie Database, the movie made so many of its fans want to buy Pinot Noir (a dry red wine) that sales significantly increased in the US and UK during and after its release. Talk about the effect of movies on people!

If you want to learn a bit more about red wine, dry red wine, and its other variants but feel clueless as to the whole thing, here's a quick wine guide; a red wine for dummy guide if you like!

Why is Red Wine… Er… Red?

Red wine is so colored because of the grape skins involved. There are a multitude of grape types, each as diverse and colorful as the next. You have purple, maroon, deep red, light red – the list goes on. Each variety brings a unique shade of red to red wine and the various colors you can see in wine stores are a direct result of the many grapes used in worldwide wine-making processes. An individual wine's color depends largely on what type of grape was used to make it and how long the skin was left in with the juice before being extracted.

What Are The Different Types of Red Wine?

There are many different types of red wine but they are usually judged by their “body”. For example, a light-bodied wine is not too demanding on the mouth and taste buds. It goes well with food that is flavor intensive. A good example of this kind of wine is the French red wine Beaujolais Nouveau.

On the other hand, there is the medium-bodied red wine which is a slightly heavier wine (e.g. Shiraz, Merlot, etc.) but not as heavy and as powerful as a full-bodied wine like French Bordeaux wines and Italian red wine like the Super Tuscans. Full-bodied wines are denser and have higher alcohol content.

How Is Red Wine Served?

You may have noticed at some parties, tasting events, or formal gatherings that red wine is served in a particular glass. It is said that an oval or egg-shaped glass that narrows as it reaches the top(compared to a slim, tall glass) is the best way to appreciate red wine as it allows the wine to breathe and swirl better. The best temperature to serve red wine is 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit. Serve it too hot and the alcohol can be overly emphasized; too cold and it will taste bitter.

Red Wine – What Are The Different Varieties?

There are a number of red wines available from all over the world from dry red wine to full-bodied wine to age old wine. There is really no such thing as the best red wine – what is tastiest to you should be considered the best. But then there are many red wines that come highly recommended like Californian red wine, Australian red wine, and then of course every other kind of wine through out Europe like Spanish red wine and the ones previously mentioned.

In time, you will be able to determine exactly what your type of red wine is. For now, why not sample the many great tasting wines out there like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc...

How Healthy IS Red Wine?

Red wine 101 these days will tell you that red wine or dry red wine is actually good for you. There have been recent studies by scientists in the UK that suggest a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon-derived wines will do the heart very good.

So, if you're looking to spice up your meals or simply want to develop a healthier diet, red wine or dry red wine may be just the thing for you. Hopefully, this has been enough information to whet your appetite. Happy wine drinking!

The Beauty of Murano Glass Jewelry

European women have more personality when it comes to their style - they own their look. Both French and Italian women believe that less is more; they rather mix than match and also play with accessories. I firmly subscribe to this philosophy as well. Accessorizing is everything! One of my favorite jewelry collections is made of beautiful Murano glass. You might ask what makes it so special. The jewelry combines traditional murano techniques with today's fashion to create stunning, beautiful pieces. Murano glass jewelry is made using centuries-old methods, each piece is a one-of-a-kind, handmade work of art and beauty. The pieces are designed with everyone in mind, from the hot trendsetters to those with more classic chic styles. Murano glass collections have something for everyone at every price point. What I also love is that Murano glass jewelry pieces are designed to appeal to today's modern woman while retaining the beauty and traditions of Italy's romantic past.

For me, Murano glass jewelry captures the essence of a woman who combines art and fashion to pay attention to herself and loves doing so! So, let's look at the art side of Murano glass.

Murano glass is beautiful hand-blown glass available in rich colorations, each one infused with unexpected color. You will turn heads with the beauty of Murano glass! A dazzling array of styles is offered and each jewelry piece is a work of art. Murano glass inherits its name from the master glass artisans of Murano from way back in the 13th century. Back then, glassmakers were highly regarded, and were the most prominent people in society because of the monopoly in quality glass art, jewelry, and other accessories. This trend went on for centuries, but despite the efforts of Venice to contain the technology of Murano's glass artistry, other glassmakers started to emerge in some parts of Italy.

Today, glass-working technologies are already widespread, but the finest glass works still come from Murano. Throughout the centuries, Murano's glass masters have refined their techniques and were able to develop crystalline glass, enameled glass, glass with threads of gold, multicolored glass (millefiori), milk glass, and imitation gemstones made of glass. Make no mistake about it, the intricately-designed pendants, beads, and gems that are very common nowadays take a lot of work to make.

Murano glass is very much desired. Today, there are about 50 companies and 2,000 artisans making Murano glass. Currently, among the less informed, there remains a misconception that Murano is a composite regional source for art glass, rather than the site of many unique companies, each with its own specialty. Murano glass is completely handmade. It can pricey. However, Murano glass jewelry is a terrific investment in wonderful art! The art of you and your uniqueness. So, express your sense of style with very chic Murano glass necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

How To Identify Your Natural State Of Beauty By Taking Dosha Survey

If you're one of the 99% who doesn't meet the latest trend, you may become frustrated with your body. You may want it to be thinner, or for that matter, more robust. You want it to look younger, or more mature. You may want blonde hair instead of brown. You may want to more plump skin instead of stretched. We live in a world that wants to keep us chasing after something we don't have. Once we get it, another carrot is dangled before us that we're told we must pursue in order to feel fulfilled.

Just look at the series of beauty enhancers and restrictive routines offered to "help" you meet impossible standards. Many women invest thousands of dollars and endless hours chasing after someone else's idea of beauty. Others can't be bothered and end up neglecting their face, skin and hair entirely. The more beauty you manifest, the more confidence, contentment and love you feel. Likewise, the more confidence, contentment and love you feel, the more beauty you will manifest. It's a wonderful spiral to be caught in.

I understand this truth now, but it wasn't always so simple for me to grasp.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's when the hippies were glorifying just "being natural" and not doing anything to make yourself appear more beautiful. In my 20s, 30s and 40s I felt pretty without doing anything. I was a little disdainful of beauty techniques.

It was only when I began to understand the esteemed place that beauty care held in Ayurveda — the ancient science of well-being from India — that I began to realize the deeper value of daily practices for my hair, face and skin.

As You Were Born and Grew You Started to Stray From Nature's Plan For you: Unless you live in perfect conditions your body and mind will not manifest exactly how they were intended to at birth. As life is dynamic, they'll remain constantly in sway to help you adjust and survive. Your current state of being is what Ayurveda calls your vrikruti . This includes your current state of beauty.

If you were born with a tendency towards dryness, and you live in a warm, tropical region, you should have little trouble keeping your dry skin in check. Likewise if your have moist skin and you live in a dessert climate. Your vikruti (your current state) and your prakruti (your intended state) differ little.

Here's Where The Trouble Starts: Imbalances in your face, hair and skin (as well as the rest of your body and mind) occur when your Prakruti (ideal state) and Your Vrikruti (current state) vary too much.

If you have a tendency towards dry skin, and you live in the dessert, you'll need to take extra measures to keep from becoming excessively dry and unattractive. Vice versa, if your skin leans towards being overly moist and you live in the tropics.

So no matter how hard you try, if you were born with a certain prakruit, for example predominately kapha, you will never be able to achieve a super-thin look. It's just not going to happen. I'm not saying you need to surrender to being overweight. Not at all. But you have to take more action to control your weight, just like a predominately vata person needs to put forth effort to stop losing too much weight.

That's really what my approach to Ayurvedic beauty is all about... I t's a process of discovering what makes you uniquely beautiful and working to bring that out more fully. It's about falling in love with who you are, and your beauty potentials, instead of straining to achieve someone else's.

Embracing Your Natural Beauty

As unique individuals of a similar species, we are all born with qualities that distinctively distinguish us from one another. There are many congenital factors which contribute to our originality such as culture, customs, environment, and genetics. With that being said, our physical characteristics contribute to painting the world in its beautiful colors, adding texture and zest to what would otherwise be a bland, featureless world. Skin tones can range in color from pink, yellow, olive, golden, bronze, to many different shades of brown. Hair color varies in shades of blond, brown, red, silver, and black; sometimes all of these colors can even be found on one single head. The windows to our souls are also tinted in an array of colors that can fall between blue, green, brown and gray. In addition to these colorful features, our skin and hair are again broken down into different types. Some of us are very pleased with the intricate combination that we were born with, while others are not; instead, choosing to embrace society’s standards.

As many of us know, today’s world consists of plastic surgery, color contact lenses, skin bleachers, nail tips, perms, hair extensions, weaves, and everything else that can be altered in order to sketch a smile on the face of what our mind considers to be beautiful. Let us take a look at the definition of beautiful.

beau·ti·ful (byYour browser may not support display of this image.Your browser may not support display of this image.tYour browser may not support display of this image.-fYour browser may not support display of this image.l)

adj.

1. Having qualities that delight the senses, especially the sense of sight.

Does this definition insinuate that unless you are naturally born with qualities that delight society’s sense of sight, you must modify your appearance in order to be accepted as beautiful?

It is appalling to even imagine this to be true; but by just taking a look around us, how could we say it is not? It may seem as if certain cultures target particular fixations; again, this may be due to certain genetic make-ups in which society has labeled as less than acceptable. Of course all ethnicities tamper with all available altering options, it is observed that while more Caucasian groups desire plastic surgery, more African Americans lean towards wanting straighter hair, but both desperately go through equally drastic measures to attain self satisfaction.

As many of us know, for the longest time in today’s world, straight hair has been the norm. With an exception of the 70’s, many African- Americans did not know how to appreciate natural pattern and beauty of their hair. Even children who have never had a complex and appreciated their hair was taught that straight hair was “good hair” and that hair that was not straighten was “nappy” and “unkempt”. For years now, we have depended on the straightening comb and chemical processing to get the hair to “be good” or “be tamed” so that it could be easier to comb and manage.

The cold reality of managing “good hair” is that people pay to have it damaged. What person in their right mind would pay for that, right? Well, that is just the thing…they obviously aren’t in their right mind. Whatever happened to our Higher Being and appreciating the way He created us? People in their right mind would think about how special He created each of us, down to the hair that grows from our scalps. Despite its texture and pattern, it is healthy hair; no different than the person’s hair that grows from their scalp straight. Do they go through the dreadful process of paying someone to make their hair “good”? Straight does not make hair good. What makes it good is that it’s healthy and it’s yours. If the whole process is thought about long and hard enough, questions of self worth and acceptance should undoubtedly surface. What then makes African-American hair bad? Is it fear that someone caught wearing their naturally textured hair will be seen as bad or shameful?

As more and more African-Americans have been embracing their natural hair, what they find is not nappy, kinky, or even coarse hair. It actually has a beautiful, medium to fine texture ranging from millions of medium to small curls. They eventually discover that the “kinky” or “nappy” hair that they thought they had, came from trying so hard to make their hair something it was not. It is sad how many people resort to doing things solely to fit into the norm. Whether it is your hair, nose, breasts, stomach or thighs you want to change; just as a person can discover their hair is naturally beautiful, you can soon discover that everything about you is naturally beautiful and does not need changing. True beauty is ONLY defined through the eyes of the beholder. Once you learn to recognize your beauty naturally, so will everyone else. Beauty is always there, but it takes wisdom to truly embrace.

Feel Good Naked - Natural Beauty Secrets

How confident are you when it comes to being naked? Sadly, a lot of women agonise about their bodies and revealing all can be a traumatic experience. If you are looking for tips, tricks and beauty secrets to help you make the most of your natural beauty and feel good naked, you've come to the right place.

Number one of all the beauty secrets is this, if you want to feel good naked you must be happy in your own skin.

To help you achieve this, look after your skin to bring out its natural beauty. Exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells and give your circulation a boost, this will encourage new skin cells at the same time. Encouraging new skin cells will give your skin a younger, fresher look.

Always moisturise using a good moisturiser and pay special attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet. Take your time and massage the moisturiser right into your skin. Massaging not only helps your circulation it also helps to smooth out bumps and wrinkles and will enhance your natural beauty. Olive oil, an old-fashioned beauty secret, will give your skin a luxurious look as well as making it soft and supple to touch. As the surface of your skin improves and you get to know your body better you will begin to feel good naked.

Remove unsightly hairs from your legs, under your arms and tidy up your bikini line, or go the whole hog and go for a Brazilian wax.

You probably already know that eating a balanced diet to maintain healthy skin from the inside will benefit your natural beauty. Oily fish and vegetables will do wonders for your nails, hair and teeth as well as providing fish oils and vitamins for your skin and is a beauty secret worth knowing.

Your hair is your crowning glory especially if you want to feel good naked, have it trimmed regularly and keep it clean, well conditioned and healthy.

A quick fix beauty secret to feel good naked is to decide which your best asset is and show it off to the best advantage. Stand naked in front of a tall mirror and take a good, long look at yourself.

Standing straight on is not always the best pose, experiment by turning slowly and watching how your contours change. Standing side on can be a lot more flattering and compliment your natural beauty. Stand up straight and lift your sternum (breastbone) arch your back slightly so that your bottom sticks out a little bit but not too much.

You can make yourself look slimmer by stretching your body into a bow shape and being careful not to stoop or scrunch yourself up. Or stand slightly side on to the mirror placing one leg in front of the other; this will give you a very sexy shapely outline indeed.

Or try lying on your stomach propped up by your elbows, this accentuates the curve of your back and the shape of your breasts and at the same time minimises your stomach.

The idea behind the above beauty secrets is to create an illusion, flatter your natural beauty and help you to feel good naked.

A good tip is to spend as much time as you can actually being naked, this will get you used to seeing yourself naked and the more you see yourself naked, the more being naked will feel natural to you.

Remember to stand up straight and stretch your body to make yourself look slimmer. It also helps if you master the art of walking by placing one foot in front of the other, as though you are walking a tight rope, and swing your legs from the hips. I've found this looks extremely elegant and it will do wonders for your confidence.

Another good beauty secret is to go for soft lighting, such as candles, tea lights or softly coloured light bulbs if you haven't got a dimmer switch, and make sure the lighting is behind you. This not only has a slimming effect - it will also help to soften your outline and give you a sexy glow.

A soft glow rather than harsh lighting will give your skin an even tone and minimise the appearance of any blemishes.

One of the best beauty secrets I know is taking regular exercise to help keep your body toned and supple, a thirty-minute walk three times a week will pay many benefits. Walk at a speed that gets your heart rate up, this will oxygenate your blood and improve your skin, as well as your muscles and heart. Don't walk so fast that you can't have a conversation at the same time.

A toned and balanced body is extremely beautiful and will make you look and feel good naked, and you don’t need an hourglass figure to achieve this. Add quality to your movements with muscles that are long and toned and you will appear more balanced and beautiful.

Finally, the best way to feel good naked is to have confidence in yourself. If you don't feel it, fake it until you do. Get to know your own body and accept yourself for who you are and how you look.

We are all individuals and there are no set rules for everyone. Watch other women and notice how they move, what looks good and what doesn't. You can learn a lot by watching others.

Someone who is happy in her own skin and behaves in a confident manner is extremely attractive and sexy, regardless of her body shape.

How you feel about yourself is what really counts because this will show in your eyes and natural beauty will radiate from you.

Relax and enjoy yourself - love the way you look - if you do then others will too.
