Ksenia Sukhinova was first crowned Miss Russia 2007, going on to complete in the Miss World pageant. She was just crowned Miss World 2008 in the two hour competition held in Johannesburg.
Ksenia Sukhinova Biography
Ksenia Sukhinova, Russian spelling, Ксения Сухинова, was born in 1987 making her age 21. She was born in Nizhnevartovsk, Russia. This beauty first came into the spotlight after representing Tyumen in the 2007 Miss Russia pageant. She outshined 50 other contestants, and took home the title. Due to her college obligations, studying for an engineering degree, she was unable to compete in the 2008 Miss Universe competition, so runner up Vera Krasova replaced her.
On December 13, Ksenia was crowned the new Miss World at the finals held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Sukhinova also won the contest’s top model award and was third in the swimsuit competition. Ksenia is absolutely stunning with measurements being 5”10’, with blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. Her name is also often misspelled Ksenya or Kseniya.
Russian crowned Miss World 2008
Russia's Kseniya Sukhinova won the Miss World 2008 crown on Saturday in a glittering African-themed pageant where she outshone 108 other international beauties and pledged to "help people."
"And Miss World 2008 is Russia," announced Julia Morley, head of the Miss World committee that organises the event.
The second runner up was Gabrielle Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago and the first runner up Parvathay Omanakuttan of India.
The 21-year-old blue-eyed blonde beauty, who declared shortly before her win was announced that being nervous made her "feel stronger," takes over from Zhang Zi Lin of China to become the 58th Miss World.
"I think I can help people and I want to help people and today if I walk away with this crown I will do that," Sukhinova told judges through a translator after being asked why she should be crowned the winner.
The World's Most Beatiful Women Gather
This year women from around the globe will be competing in the age old traditional contest of Miss World 2008. It's a pretty high ranking position as this is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant created and many countries are anxiously waiting to see if their daughter will take home the title.
Finals for the Miss World 2008 pageant will be airing live from South Africa on CNMG television from 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13. The finals are being held at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, South Africa.
